China targets 1.5 trillion yuan tea industry by 2030

China has set ambitious goals for its tea industry, targeting a total market value of 1.5 trillion yuan by the year 2030. This initiative aims to foster a competitive and environmentally sustainable tea sector that prioritizes quality, sustainability, and technological advancements.
The strategic guidelines have been developed collaboratively by five government departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The aim is to significantly improve both the quality and efficiency of the tea industry, establishing a robust, innovative, and globally competitive system.
In addition to long-term objectives, the guidelines set specific targets for 2028, focusing on consistent advancements in key traditional tea-producing regions. These targets emphasize the ongoing enhancement of unique local tea industries and the modernization of the industry chain.
To achieve these ambitious goals, the guidelines lay out several critical tasks. These include bolstering scientific and technological innovations, nurturing a diverse range of market entities, and advancing specialized industry clusters.
Furthermore, the initiative encourages the expansion of tea raw materials and components into various sectors, including home products, daily chemicals, cosmetics, and healthcare. This diversification is seen as pivotal for broadening the utility and appeal of tea.
With a history stretching back thousands of years, China is recognized as the birthplace of tea. The beverage has become an integral part of Chinese culture, deeply woven into the daily lives and traditions of its people.
