CreateAI CEO: How AI is Transforming the Digital Entertainment Industry

Cheng Lu, president and CEO of CreateAI, a leading Chinese artificial intelligence technology company, believes that the revolution of artificial intelligence in digital entertainment is a transformative opportunity. He argues that AI is set to reshape the landscapes of video games and anime, heralding a new era for the industry.
In a candid assessment, Lu pointed out that top-tier studios in Hollywood and Japan are grappling with challenges such as rising production costs, labor shortages, and excessively long development cycles. He emphasized that generative AI is not intended to replace artists; rather, it aims to empower them, facilitating greater creativity and efficiency.
CreateAI has introduced Animon.ai, an innovative AI video generation tool tailored for anime, comics, and gaming. This platform has quickly gained traction in Japan, demonstrating the appetite for cutting-edge technologies in digital production.
Lu elaborated on the complexities of anime production, likening it to a 14-step marathon that includes scriptwriting, storyboarding, and keyframe creation, all traditionally done by hand. He asserted that their technology allows for the generation of layouts, character designs, and in-between frames at the click of a button, freeing directors to experiment and bring stories to life in new ways.
The impact of AI on game production is similarly profound. Lu mentioned that AI facilitates transformations throughout the entire production process, significantly accelerating the design of environments and characters. He expressed his confidence that CreateAI's advancements could reduce current game development costs by over 50 percent within five years.
To support its ambitious goals, CreateAI is focused on developing robust underlying AI technologies, including proprietary video generation large models, like Ruyi, and enhancing various industry-leading models. This strategic focus underscores the company’s commitment to pioneering advancements in digital entertainment.
Lu described the company's vision of leveraging proprietary AI simulation systems for the development of video games. These foundational technologies will form the basis of customized software tools aimed at aiding human creators in crafting diverse anime and gaming content.
As part of its expansion strategy this year, CreateAI plans to unveil a suite of AI generation tools and a user-generated content platform designed for anime fans and creators around the globe, furthering community engagement.
Additionally, Lu introduced CreateAI's business model, which is built on two pillars. The first involves self-developed content leveraging major intellectual properties to create blockbuster digital entertainment, while the second focuses on operating AI tools and fostering a platform where fans can become professional creators, enriching the community.
