China Evergrande to Delist from Hong Kong Stock Exchange August 25

China Evergrande, once the largest real estate company in China, announced on Tuesday that it will be delisting from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE) on August 25.

The decision follows a letter received by China Evergrande from the HKSE on August 8, indicating that the company had failed to meet the requirements outlined for resumption of trading. As a consequence, with no trading having resumed by July 28, 2025, the HKSE's Listing Committee has resolved to cancel the company's listing in accordance with Rule 6.01A(1).

The final trading day for China Evergrande's shares will take place on August 22, 2025. Following this date, the company’s listing status will be officially canceled at 9 a.m. on August 25, 2025.

China Evergrande has indicated that it does not intend to appeal the decision made by the Listing Committee. In its communication to shareholders, investors, and potential investors, the company explained that while the shares will remain valid after the last trading day, they will no longer be tradable on the HKSE, nor will the company be subjected to the Listing Rules thereafter.

As part of the liquidation process leading up to the delisting, liquidators are preparing to furnish stakeholders with a report detailing the liquidation progress. This report is expected to cover the period from January 29, 2024, to July 31, 2025.

The delisting marks a significant moment for China Evergrande, which was once a dominant player in the real estate sector, now facing considerable challenges and restructuring amid broader financial instability in China's property market.
