2025 Summer Davos: Spotlight on Entrepreneurship & Global Growth

The World Economic Forum is set to host the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2025, popularly known as the Summer Davos Forum, in Tianjin from June 24 to 26. This prestigious event will gather over 1,700 participants hailing from more than 90 countries, aiming to discuss the pivotal roles of entrepreneurship and innovation in revitalizing global growth.

This announcement was made during a media conference in Beijing on Tuesday, where event organizers unveiled their strategic focus on fostering dialogue surrounding critical global challenges that the world currently faces.

The forum will witness the participation of over 144 senior political figures from more than 30 countries and regions, including 40 cabinet ministers. Attendees will comprise influential business leaders, government representatives, civil society activists, academics, and media figures who will provide insights into how aspects such as regional development, emerging technologies, and shifting supply chains are transforming global industries, especially in China and Asia.

Prominent Chinese entrepreneurs, including TCL founder Li Dongsheng and JD.com chairman Liu Qiangdong, are confirmed participants, indicating the significant representation of China in global economic discussions.

Chen Shuai, the deputy director general of the National Development and Reform Commission's Department of International Cooperation, expressed that the forum serves as a platform to showcase China's achievements in high-quality economic development and its commitment to an increasingly open market. He emphasized the invitation to the global business community to engage actively in China's modernization and capitalize on opportunities arising from its high-quality growth.

Welcoming international delegates, Tianjin's vice-mayor Li Wenhai highlighted the city's advancements in technology and emerging industries. He described the Summer Davos as a pivotal venue for fostering meaningful dialogues on pressing global economic issues.

Gim Huay Neo, managing director of the World Economic Forum, acknowledged Asian economies as the powerhouse of global growth, contributing 60 percent of economic expansion. She reaffirmed the forum's role in facilitating partnerships that are crucial for geo-economic progress.

Under the theme 'Entrepreneurship for a New Era', the Summer Davos forum will unfold an agenda centered around five core areas: Deciphering the World Economy, Outlook on China, Industries Disrupted, Investing in People and Planet, and New Energy and Materials.

The event will feature over 40 sessions, with key discussions including the opening plenary being livestreamed. Significant reports such as the 2025 Energy Transition Index and the Top 10 Emerging Technologies will also be released during the forum, further reinforcing its impact.

Now in its 16th edition, the Summer Davos Forum emphasizes China's role as a catalyst for global innovation and economic recovery in a rapidly changing world.
