First Intelligent Robot 4S Store to Open in Beijing E-Town This August

The world's first embodied intelligent robot 4S store is poised to open in Beijing this August, marking a groundbreaking advance in the commercialization of humanoid robots. This development positions Beijing at the forefront of this innovative industry, as noted by industry analysts.
In the context of Chinese commerce, a "4S store" typically refers to a comprehensive venue that integrates sales, service, spare parts, and customer surveys to enhance consumer experiences.
Following the successful humanoid robot half-marathon in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, also known as Beijing E-Town, the capital is embarking on establishing the inaugural 4S store dedicated to humanoid robot lifecycle services.
A statement released by the administrative committee of the BDA confirmed that this innovative retail concept will launch during the 2025 World Robot Conference, scheduled from August 8 to 12 at the Beiren Yichuang International Convention and Exhibition Center within the BDA.
The 4S store, situated in Beijing's Yizhuang robotics industrial park, aims to provide an integrated service platform for embodied intelligent robots, encompassing sales, spare parts, service, and customer feedback. This approach intends to facilitate seamless communication between suppliers and consumers throughout the lifecycle of robotics.
Over 100 companies from across the robotics value chain have shown interest in participating in the new 4S store, including 30 firms specializing in humanoid robots. Early partnerships are anticipated with leading companies such as the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center and UBTECH.
Officials at the BDA believe that the establishment of the 4S store will significantly enrich the industrial ecosystem of Beijing's robotics sector, fostering innovation and cooperation among companies, and enhancing the overall business environment to support future growth.
Moreover, the Yizhuang 4S store is envisioned not merely as a commercial operation, but also a pivotal showcase for the burgeoning humanoid robot industry. It represents a significant stride towards enhancing the commercialization and acceptance of humanoid robots in China.
The 4S store is likely to bridge the gap between rapid technological advancements and market demands, acting as a central hub for collaboration and standardization in the humanoid robot space, according to insights from Liu Gang, chief economist at the Chinese Institute of New Generation AI Development Strategies.
With significant strides in artificial intelligence and motion control technologies, China is poised to leverage its first-mover advantage in the humanoid robot market, enhancing innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration and resource integration.
Forecasts indicate that the market for humanoid robots in China could reach approximately 8.24 billion yuan in 2025, capturing half of the global share, and potentially soaring to around 870 billion yuan by 2030. Investment in this sector has surged, with 59 deals and substantial funding noted in 2023.
Recent data reveals that as of early June 2023, China is home to over 900,000 robotics-related enterprises, with a notable increase of 100,000 new registrations in the first five months of the year, marking a year-on-year growth of 44 percent.
